Several years ago, we invented Brother's Day. Why?
We celebrate that they are each other's best friends.
Why? We want to create traditions that encourage our family time together. We're so busy in our normal life, that setting one day aside a year to celebrate them is worth it! This family tradition strengthens their brotherly bond and they look forward to it all year! It also reinforces how much we love them!
How do celebrate? We learned the hard way that trying to celebrate it randomly in the middle of the summer, was too hard. We do not have a specific date, we just tell them it will happen when we're on vacation.
The Plan for the Day
Donuts for breakfastBeach time
Sandwiches for lunch
Movie
Dinner out - kid friendly restaurant
Special Event: Sunset "cruise" (my youngest cried when it was all over)
We also give them a few little presents that they can use together. Nothing big - matching t-shirts and a pool toy. (things we would have already purchased for the summer)
We used to let them purchase something for each other.... but after the trip to Walmart 2 years ago we've decided to nix that idea.
2011- Beach and Boat Ride
2010 - Caverns
2009 - Beach and water slides
2008 - Water Park (near home)
How do you celebrate the relationships in your house?

You're the best Carmela! Can't wait to post some of the awesome ideas you do with your 4 boys too. I see a great Brothers Day in your future!
I LOVE this idea, Kristen! As the mom of 2 boys who are 3.5 years apart & not "tight", I'm always happy to hear about ways to grow their relationship. Can't wait to try it.
@Ann - I think this is a great way to create "brotherly love" and they look forward to it every year!
What a beautiful and sweet idea! We have five boys and it is so important to me that they grow up having an appreciation for one another.
Thanks for sharing this on my Mommy Resource and Solution meme!
Aww this is so sweet. I will have to make a siblings day when my kids are a little older. Thanks for linking up last week at Lines Across My Face. I hope to see you back this week for our 2nd crafty link party.
