Coffee Filter Tie-Dye Turkeys Tutorial

Happy Thanksgiving!  Here's a fun and "cool" activity to keep them busy on Thanksgiving!

Tie Dye Turkeys!

Supplies Needed:

Coffee Filters

Markers - we used Crayola

Scraps of brown, orange, red and black paper

Hole punch - for eyes (or just use a crayon)

Rubber Gloves (only if you're doing a lot - the ink can stain your hands)

First, color spots all over your feathers / coffee filter.

Second, lay out newspaper and fold your feathers in half and half again and again - until it looks lie a piece of pie.

Third, prepare to get wet!  Just the tip really needs to get wet and the water is absorbed to the end.

 

Fourth, squeeze the water from tip to end so all of the colors merge.

Air dry.

  

While it dries, make your turkey body.  Our body is the shape of a bowling pin and about the size of your hand.

They make great Thanksgiving decorations and sun catchers too!
