Rachel at Sun Scholars graciously gave Busy Kids = Happy Mom her wonderful Summer Program to review! I found Sun Scholars last summer and drooled over her amazing program. When she offered it for review and one as a giveaway for YOU, I jumped on it!!!
Read to find out how you can purchase one, get a week for free or how you can WIN the entire 12-week program!
If you've followed my site for long, you know how much I value summer learning and planning a great summer with your kids! My problem has always been that my intentions are great in the spring and then school gets out and I don't have a thing planned!
Cue Sun Scholars...............
This program was written by a mom of 3 who is also a teacher. She understands the demands of kids in the summer and knows how important it is to keep them learning by doing FUN things! She incorporates hands-on-learning and her super fun activities work on reading, writing, math, social studies, science, art, music, and more!
The program has 12 weeks of activities for just $30 or you can WIN it (below). There are 240 activities total, each week has 20 activities, each day has 4 activity plans.
All of the planning is done for you! That is truly my favorite part! Each activity is fun and easy to manage.
Mom Bonus: less time planning for you = more time to enjoy summer!

Wow, thanks so much for the fabulous write up for Sun Scholars Kristen! I appreciate it!! :)
Well part of my plans for this summer, are my year round home daycare, i will be caring for 6 children in total (including my own) for 3 days a week. On the long weekends, we will be relaxing/traveling, and then we have a vacation planned in July. When we get back we will be picking up our 10 week old (at that time) mini dachshund puppy!! So with all of the business, this program would REALLY help!!
What I liked at Sun Scholars..well, the summer program looks amazing. I have varied aged children I care for in my home daycare, this summer they will range from 3 up to 8..this program looks perfect as it can be used for a wide range of children. I also LOVED the Fathers Day Activities/gift ideas she had posted!
Somethng I loved on Busy Kids = Happy Mom, is your SUmmer Points idea. My son will be 9 in 2 weeks, so the chart for your 8 year old was very applicable!! Great idea!!
For the summer, I plan on swimming, swimming, swimming!!It's an unusually hot summer where I live so we've got the pool up and swim everyday :) There are tons of fun activities we do in the water like sponge spelling, number diving, color matching, and pouring, splashing, and more pouring!
Love your idea for glow stick lanterns. We're headed camping this weekend and I'm pretty sure we're going to have to make them! Thanks for the great idea!!
We will be traveling a lot, so I love your points system...we will be using it in the car though!
for the summer, we are crafting, making tents, swimming and enjoying the new area we just moved to.
i love the "i'm the dad" shirt!
i love the birthday on a budget! we have two coming up.=)
Entry #2: I like the carved leather bracelets from Sun Solars
Entry #1: I plan to work in the garden in the morning then harvest and preserve in the afternoon, teaching the toddler along the way.
Entry #3: My favorite Busy Kids idea is the Point System. We'll do a watered down version this summer.
Entry #4 - checked out Mama Pea Pod's Giveaway. Hope I win that one too!
Thanks for all you do!
This summer my 3 children (9 months, 3 years & 6 years) and I will travel to Iowa to spend 3 weeks with family and have fun at the farm. We will also be traveling with dad to the Czech Republic for a mission trip. We are really excited and I am looking for some routines/lessons that I can take with us as we travel.
Our summer plans include going to Family Camp at Deer Valley YMCA camp, VBS, spending a lot of time at the pool and summer points - my kids are so excited about earning points again this summer!
LOVE the preschool activity trays on Sun Scholars - so simple, so contained, so perfect for my little dude!
Kristen,
You continue to impress me with all the wonderful ideas you post on Busy Kids = Happy Mom, so it's hard for me to choose my favorite. I do LOVE Brothers' Day and hope to start that tradition this summer.
My summer plans include a couple of camps for my son, but I feel very unprepared for the rest of the summer. Having a rising 1st grader, I feel like this is the perfect summer to set the stage that summers are for fun and learning. Sun Scholars looks like a great way to do that. Thanks for posting!
My favorite Busy Kids - Happy Mom idea is the fill in the blank sheet for teachers. I'm so excited to send this to school next week for a final good-bye to his Kindergarten teacher. She is also retiring this year, so I hope it is an extra special gift.
I love the developmental appropriate chores list. My kids are getting put to work this summer! :)
