Elf on the Shelf 350+ Idea Round-Up!

Elf on the Shelf!  Are you looking for some awesome ideas to get you started this year?  We have photos of all of our favorite elf antics here and here.  I love to share awesome ideas from other cool blogs as well.  If you’re new to “elfing” around at Christmas, you’ll want to start with our How-to-Elf-Guide (click here).

I’ve been doing Elf on the Shelf “research” and wanted to share it with you!  Over 350 ideas here and I’m sure more to come!  We can’t wait to get started this year.

The Busy Kid  Happy Mom Family Tradition:

Buddies: our classic elf “Ben” and our Elf-on-the-Shelf “Franklin”.

When my husband was growing up, his grandmother would hide a little elf for him and his sister to find.  This was over 30 years ago.  I’m so impressed with her creativeness and that this is not something new.  We decided to bring our own elf into our fun family traditions too.

In our house we believe that the Elf and Santa are just for fun.  We have long told our children (who are now school-age) that “Santa is just a fun game we play” at Christmas.  We present Santa as a historical figure and Christmas as the celebration of Jesus’s birthday.

  1. Can’t wait to check out all these great ideas! I love to see what other families’ elves have been up too! Thanks for including ours!

  2. This sounds like a fun idea. We don’t have an elf at home, but maybe we can use a Russian doll instead, lol

  3. Where can I get this book at?

  4. The Elf and the book are available at book stores, Target, and Amazon. Hope that helps!

  5. I always post my elf pictures on facebook in the morning for our friends to see and this past weekend a friend brought over her original elf “uncle edward” to be at our house as he was lonely with no children around. The two elves in the tree is a very familiar sight :) We are loving our elf on the shelf tradition, I love hearing the kids giggle at “chippy” when they find him every morning!

  6. OH p.s.!! I featured you on a post!! Sorry, I didn’t tell you in the first comment!! :)
