Are you ready for a Summer Challenge?
I am always impressed by moms who take an idea and run with it. In this case, this was a personal friend of mine. She developed a Summer Points system for her 3 children. I find it hard enough to figure out a basic summer plan, but she does everything… times three!
Not only did she develop reasonable “Survive the Summer” goals, but she also motivated other moms around her to do the same thing. Pretty soon, everyone was asking her for a copy. They wanted to do it themselves. That is the circle of influence one mom can have. Impressive.
We all need a bit of sanity when it comes to summer. Everyone thrives on structure and routine. I also like the feeling of accomplishing something when the days are long.

This chart covers the things that were important for her kids to learn this summer:
School: workbook pages daily, reading, write a story
Exercise: swim team
Chores: dishes, water plants, clean bathroom
*This is a 6 week plan, with prizes received weekly. I like the immediate reinforcement for younger children. This was set up for elementary age children.
I love celebrating awesome moms! What kinds of challenges have you set up for your children this summer? If you’re interested in finding more out about Summer Points or other learning ideas, click here.
